Well, what do we have here? Hilary Swank (as Erin Gruwell) and The Freedom Writers. Freedom Writers the movie is based on a true story, Richard LaGravenese the Director made a fantastic screenplay! The book “The Freedom Writers Diary: How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change Themselves and the World Around Them” was published in 1999. This true story is very, very moving, I’m truly glad this is now an incredible movie that will be watched over-and-over again! The reason behind The Freedom Writers is about the history of the 1992 Los Angeles riots which were sparked on April 29th, 1992.
